Adam focuses his practice on complex litigation and investigations. He has extensive experience handling United States and global government investigations and litigation, internal investigations, and appeals in the healthcare-technology industry. These investigations include FCPA, Anti-Kickback Statute, and False Claims Act matters and appearances before DOJ, HHS-OIG, and the SEC. In connection with such investigations, Adam has frequently been called upon to provide real-time advice to business leaders regarding compliance and investigation risk. Previously, Adam served as senior counsel in litigation and investigations for Target Corporation, as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, and as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) for the U.S. Department of Justice. As an AUSA, Adam investigated and tried cases covering securities fraud, RICO/VCAR, firearms and narcotics cases, and money laundering. As an AUSA, he handled around 100 criminal appeals (including dozens of arguments) in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Leveraging his time as a law-firm client, Adam prioritizes pragmatic and business-friendly advice that the C-suite can use to minimize legal risk while achieving business outcomes. Whether that involves efficient scoping and budgeting, innovative approaches to reporting to government regulators, or minimizing legalese in communicating with the business, Adam understands how best to mitigate the business impact of litigation and investigations.
